Reuters is looking for a talented journalist to join its agency video operations in Russia, based in Moscow. We are seeking someone who is a genuine self-starter, who has strong news judgment, and who is skilled at visual story telling. She or he will be multi-skilled and will be expected to handle a varied brief that will include desking as a producer, field producing stories and at times shooting video. Moscow is the main bureau for our agency video operations in Russia and the other CIS countries and we produce and deliver a significant portion of edited and live content via to our global subscribers.

Working closely with Text and Pictures colleagues in Moscow, the successful candidate will be able to produce high quality content for News and other video segments including CEEF – Reuters’ central and eastern European video product as well as Entertainment, Lifestyle and Sports. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and driven. The successful candidate will be focused on improving editorial and technical performance.

The video news industry is going through a period of significant change, largely driven by technology and the rapidly changing habits of news consumers. The successful candidate will be very customer focused and will be able to tailor content for Reuters’ clients in the growing digital sector as well as existing broadcast news customers.

Essential Day to Day responsibilities:

• Research, plan and deliver video coverage for General News, Entertainment, and other specialist segments.


• Respond confidently to major breaking news events, acting quickly and with live news needs in mind.

Qualifications/ Required skills:

• Strong camera and video editing skills. Ability to write video scripts in English to a high standard.


• Ability to work as a one-man band, as well as being able to work in larger news gathering teams on top stories. Some experience of managing teams and covering major stories.


• Solid experience in broadcast and-or agency television newsgathering and production.


• Thorough understanding of the latest digital video technologies for filming, editing, transmitting and sharing content.


• Strong skills in driving accuracy and speed. Knowledge of and commitment to defend Reuters Trust Principles.


• Fluent Russian and English. Other languages will be an added advantage.
